Indian Street Burger | Aloo Tikki Burger |Bun Tikki
Burgers have made their way to our breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. They’re now part of weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and even in canteens of all the colleges. And whether you’re a foodie or not you’ll agree that nobody can ever get enough of a burger.
Whenever you are on a holiday in Hill Stations in India you will easily find these Burgers on the streets. Every cafe is having its unique desi style of Burger. They are different from what we usually eat in Hotels & Reastaurants . They are served with mint and tamarind sweet chutneys.
Tikkis which they use are very crispy and have very unique flavour they usually add Bengal Gram dal in these tikkis with powdered Poha which make them fluffy and crispy. Today i am going to share Desi Indian street Style Burger Recipe with Bengal Gram Dal.
Main Ingredients for the recipe are –
Burger Buns, the crunchy aloo tikki, the green chutney, the sweet tamarind chutney and vegetables of your choice. you can also have Cheese slice if you want cheese Burger
.
Burger Buns
There are variety of burger buns available in market you can take any burger bun of your choice or you can bake it at home also . Homemade Burgers are super yummy in taste.
Green Chutney
Green coriander chutney aka hare dhaniye ki chutney is a must for all types of Indian snacks and sandwiches. The very famous green chutney is an integral part of so many Indian dishes. It’s one chutney which I always have in my refrigerator.
Tamarind Chutney
For this recipe, I made an easy tamarind chutney with ready to use tamarind paste. Just mix the paste with water and spices and let it boil until it thickens.
Aloo Tikki
We are going to make aloo tikki burger with mashed potatoes , Bengal gram which is boiled and then mashed, powdered dry Poha you can use rice flour also but sometimes poha powder gives a different taste and few spices.
How to assemble the Burger
Once you have all the components ready slit the burger buns and lightly toast them from both sides. you can also deep fry the burger as done in hill stations. But i like it by toasting the buns. Apply the chutneys. place the tikki add the vegetables of your choice like Onion, Tomato, Cucumber, lettuce, Cheese slice or Paneer.
Street Style Burger | Burger | Burger Bun
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup Bengal Gram
- 1/2 cup Poha ( Beaten Rice )
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
- 5 Medium Potatoes boiled & cooled
- 1 tsp Chaat Masala
- 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder
Instructions
- Soak Bengal Gram Dal in enough water for half an hour.
- Add turmeric powder and pressure cook for 4 whistles.
- Drain and grind the dal.
- Grind the poha into a fine powder.
- In a mixing bowl add the dal, boiled potatoes, poha powder, chaat masala, red chilli powder, salt, coriander powder .
- mix the mixture well.
- Shape them into flat patties or Tikki shapes. Keep them aside.
- Fry them till crispy and golden brown from both the sides.
- Cut Burger Buns and fry them slightly from both sides.
- Now apply Sweet tamarind chutney.
- Place Onion rings, then aloo tikki.
- Now apply green mint chutney some tomato slices and cheese slice if you want.
- Place the other slice of Burger Bun of the top.
- Street Style Burger is ready to eat.
