The festive season is around the corner. It seems like it has all begun in full swing. It can’t be complete without making some sweets and savoury snacks. Isn’t it? And this leafy shahi shakkar pare will surely surprise your loved ones.

Shahi Shakarpara is a traditional Indian sweet snack. Its royal shape makes it real Shahi. It can be stored for weeks. Shahi Shakarpara looks very tempting and preparing it is not a very big task. Like other shakarpara it is also made with Maida and is coated with Sugar Syrup. People of all age group, specially children Loves it. It is also a Festival Special sweet.

Shaping Shahi Shakarpara

  1. Divide Dough into equal parts of  Ball size.
  2. Roll it to a thin Roti.
  3. Cut sides to give Rectangle shape.
  4. Slit cut in an even gap.
  5. Fold it half vertically and seal the corners. Second Fold it likewise.
  6. Seal one corner and Pass it through the slit cuts and seal the other side in opposite direction.
  7. Shahi Shakarpara is Ready for Deep Frying.

Shahi Shakarpara Recipe | Shakarpare | Festival Special

Shahi shakar Pare is a slight variation of the traditional shakkar pare. Only it is more interesting in terms of shape, flavor, and appeal. It is a crispy mildly sweet Indian snack, prepared mainly with all purpose flour/maida, ghee, and sugar.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups All Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Ghee/ Clarified Butter
  • Pinch Of salt

For Sugar Syrup

  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1/4 tsp Green Cardamom Powder

Instructions

  • In a bowl add flour, salt, Ghee and mix together. Till the flour is crumbly.

  • Add just enough chilled water to knead a soft dough.

  • Knead it lightl. Cover and keep side for 15 minutes.

  • After 15 minutes take a small portion of dough and spread out into a thin rectangular shape.

  • Make 1/2 cm wide slits throughout the dough.

  • Dip the finger in water and run it on edges.

  • Carefully pick the dough from one side and fold. Again apply water on edges and fold again.

  • Lift the dough and fold the edges.

  • Bend and bring the top end from the center to the other side like a knot.

  • On a medium hot oil deep fry till crispy golden brown from both sides.

  • Remove and cool completely.

Sugar Syrup

  •  Add water and sugar in a pan.

  • Bring to boil till 2 string consistency.

  • Let it come to room temperature.

  • Now dip the fried Shakarpara in sugar syrup for 30 seconds.

  • Remove from syrup drip the the excess syrup and serve.

  • Garnish with chopped almonds and Pistas.

  • Rest for an Hour before serving. 

Notes

  • Don’t Knead the Dough very loose or Tight.
  • Maintain the temperature of oil to medium to get Crispier Shakarpara.
  • Shahi Shakarpara can be stored for weeks.
