Dry fruit laddu with wholewheat is rich in nutrients and sweet desserts which is prepared in winters especially on Holi, Diwali or any special occasion. In India, every household prepares atte aur gond ke ladoo in winter season with many combinations of dryfruits.

Each little addition or removal of any ingredient becomes a new flavor altogether. Dry fruit laddu is a great snack for kids in school or for breakfast with milk. People who are conscious about their weight, for them also dry fruit laddu or aate ke ladoo is a great pre-workout or post-workout meal. These aate ke laddus are also called a pinni in Punjabi.

Atte ke ladoo are a wholesome and nutritious food, with a good storage life and are invaluable when hunger strikes at odd hours. These ladoos can also be made during festivals.

Health Benefits Of Aata Ladoo With Dry Fruits And Edible Gum (Gond)?

Gond ke laddu gives heat and energy to the body in the winter season and keeps you energetic for the whole day. Gond ladoo is also a great meal for lactating mothers as it helps in increasing milk in the body and gives strength. In summer edible gum or gond can be skipped as it contains heat-generating properties. Edible gum or gond is specially used in winters and for the ladies after giving birth. Wheat laddus should not be consumed in pregnancy.

How To Make Gond Ke Laddu Without Sugar?

Yes, you can make this delicious aata ladoo with dry fruits without sugar using jaggery powder. Just use jaggery powder in place of sugar.


  • Do not fry edible gum on the high flame otherwise, they will roast from the upper side and stay raw from the inside.
  • You can increase or decrease the quantity of Muskmelon Seeds and Sugar according to your taste.
  • If the mixture appears dry then, mix the melted clarified butter in it. If it appears wet then, leave it in the open air for a while.

  • 2 Cups ( 300 grams ) Whole Wheat
  • 2 Cups ( 300 grams ) Sugar
  • 1.5 Cups (250 grams ) Desi Ghee
  • 1/2 Cup (75 grams ) Almonds
  • 1/2 Cup (75 grams ) Cashew Nuts
  • 1/4 Cup ( 50 grams ) Edible Gum
  • 1/2 Cup (50 grams ) Dried Coconut
  • 1/4 Cup Raisins
  • 1 tsp Green Cardamom Powder
  • 1/4 Cup Musk Melon Seeds
  • 1/4 Cup Makhana ( Fox Nuts )


  • Heat Pan and dry roast Melon seeds. Remove from heat and Keep aside.
  • Dry Roast dried Coconut till it changes its colour. Remove from heat and keep aside.
  • Heat 2 tbsp Ghee (clarified butter) in a Kadai or pan. Put in the Gond pieces into it and deep fry on medium heat. Till they puff and turn light. Remove from heat and keep aside.
  • Fry Almonds , Cashew, Fox nuts . Remove from heat and keep aside.
  • Coarsly crush the fried edible gum ( Gond ) .
  • Coarsly gring the fried nuts . Keep some melon seeds to be added afterwards.
  • Mix all the grinded nuts and edible gum together and keep aside.
  • Now in a heavy bottomed pan, put whole wheat flour and the rest of the Ghee (Clarified Butter) .
  • Keep the pan on a low flame or sim and begin to roast the whole wheat flour. You have to stir often while roasting the flour so that there is even roasting and browning.
  • Roast till the color changes and you get nutty aroma from the atta (whole wheat flour). About 7 to 10 minutes on a low flame. Timing will vary with the material, size and thickness of the pan.
  • Do check the taste of the whole wheat flour and it should feel cooked. There should be no rawness in the taste.
  • Switch off the flame. Keep the pan down and add the fried and grounded dryfruits.
  • Add cardamom Powder, Raisins and melon seeds. Mix Well
  • Add grounded Sugar. Mix Well.
  • Break the sugar lumps if any in the ladoo mixture. The ladoos mixture has to be mixed very well.
  • When the mixture is still hot and the heat is tolerable to you, take a heaped size portion of it and make medium sized atta ladoos from this whole mixture.
  • In case, you are not able to form ladoos, then add a few teaspoons more of the ghee. Mix well and then continue to shape the ladoos.
  • Atte Ke Laddu are ready to serve. Garnish it with finely cut pieces of Dry Fruit. Allow it to cool fully before storing in an airtight container.



  • Firstly, roast the dry fruits on low flame to prevent from burning.
  • Add a variety of dry fruits to make ladoo healthy and nutritious.
  • Additionally, along with wheat flour, you can also add suji to get a grainy texture.
  • Fry the gond well otherwise it will stick to the teeth.
  • Add more melted ghee if the laddu are not binding.
  • Bind the laddu while the mixture is still warm.
  • Finally, aate ke ladoo tastes great when a variety of dry fruits are added.

    I made these laddoos with jaggery.. but after melting the jaggery and adding it to atta mixture… it got tightened and hardened like a rock..
    What to do? please suggest some solution

      Hi Deepali
      It seems you have overcooked the jaggery. Add jaggery powder or melt with 1 tbsp of water and switch off the gas as soon as the jaggery melts. Better you grate and add.
