Kesar peda is a simple and easy milk based peda with just 2 ingredients – khoya and sugar and flavoured with cardamom powder and saffron strings. It is an ideal and perfect peda recipe for any festivals like Diwali, Navarathri, holi, raksha bandhan or any other special occasions.  Kesar peda is a very delicious and popular Indian sweet dish and saffron added to it gives a unique taste to the peda.

Variations In Peda :

  1. Kesar Peda– Kesar peda recipe made by combining mawa along with some sugar and flavored with saffron. A traditional Indian mithai, this Kesar Peda is absolutely delicious.
  2. Chocolate Peda – Instant chocolate peda recipe made with sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, and milk powder. These peda has a rich chocolate flavor with a perfect amount of sweetness.
  3. Doodh Peda – The traditional method of making doodh peda is time-consuming and requires cooking milk for a long time until it thickens. There is also an instant method of making doodh peda with condensed milk and milk powder and is flavored with saffron.

Kesar Peda | Kesar Mawa Peda | Festivals

Kesar Peda is very popular Indian sweet dish made of khoya or mava, milk and sugar. Khoya sweets of India are famous across the world because Khoya brings a unique taste to the sweets.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Mawa / Khoya
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Green Cardamom Powder

Instructions

  • Mix Few strands of Kesar in 1 tbsp of warm milk. Keep aside.
  • Heat the mawa in a broad non-stick pan and cook on a medium flame for 7 to 8 minutes, while stirring continuously.
  • Add cardamom powder & saffron milk. Mix Well.
  • The mixture should be smooth and soft.
  • Remove from the heat and let it cool completely.
  • Add Sugar Powder and mix well.
  • Spread the dough to cool slightly, so it will be easy to prepare pedas.
  • Now scoop a tbsp of dough and prepare a ball
  • Prepare a smooth and crack free ball by greasing ghee to hands.
  • Place pistachios or any dry fruit at the centre and press gently.
  • finally, instant kesar peda is ready to serve or refrigerate in a air tight container to store for a week.

Notes

  • If the mixture is a bit loose or runny, add little milk powder or powdered sugar and mix the mixture again.
  • If the mixture is little tight, add few tablespoons of milk and bring it to the right consistency.
  • If you are using frozen khoya, thaw it completely and then crumble the khoya.
  • You can also decorate the pedas with a mix of  chopped almonds and cashewnuts to enhance its flavor.
 

Chef Tip:

Kesar Peda must be consumed within 2-3 days.
