Kada Prashad | Aate Ka Halwa

Gurudwara Karah Prasad Recipe – One of the delicacies that is served in Gurudwara as a prasad is this super delicious halwa known as kada prashad. Its everybody’s favorite sweet. Kada Prasad or Atte ka Halwa is like an instant blessing & a reminder that no one will go empty handed from his Doorsteps. This kada parshad recipe is one of my childhood favourites and something I love to make for my kids.

The taste of kada prashad we get in Gurudwaras is amazing because lots of prayers and love is behind the prashad. Its very easy to make and is made with very less ingredients but one should make it with pure heart and lots of love you will get the nearlly same taste and everyone is going to love it.

Kada Prasad or Atte ka Halwa is a rich dessert prepared in Desi Ghee (clarified butter) and offered to all who visit & pray in a Gurudwara. It is made of whole wheat flour and the ratio is 1:1:1:4 :: Ghee:Atta:Sugar:Water.
Ghee:
Ghee or Clarified Butter is the hero behind this dish. My mother-in-law use to say ” Ghee kare kaam Badi Bahu ka Naam ” usually the amount of ghee depends upon the amount of flour used that is in the ratio of 1:1 . But now days taking too much Ghee is also not good for health so you can reduce the quantity of Ghee if you want to 3/4th and don’t forget to exercise next day.
Flour:
Best is to use a freshly ground flour that is grainy and coarse. The coarse flour gives it a better texture and mouth feel. The key to a good halwa is to cook the whole wheat flour on a slow flame and get a brown colour with a sandy/grainy texture. Once you start cooking the flour you have to stir it continuously.
Sugar:
Equal quantity of sugar is used in this that is the same quantity of flour and Ghee 1:1:1
Water:
Quantity of water varies water gives it volume. Some uses 2 times some uses 3 times but here i am using 4 time that is if i am using 1 cup flour then i will use 4 cups of water. Water should be very hot while adding. Do not pour all the sugar water at once. Add water slowly to the cooked flour to avoid lump formation.
